These clamps look like archaic relics, but they do have a lot of uses that other clamps cant handle. I recommend the 10 or 12 inch varieties.
* Durable hardwood jaws will not mar the work and are less likely to slip than steel jaws.
* They have a deep throat and can be used to apply a broad area of evenly distributed pressure or concentrated at one point of contact.
* Jaws pivot to grip nonparallel surfaces.
